Hello, little learner! 👋 Today we are going to meet the numbers from 1 to 10. Numbers are everywhere: on doors, on clocks, on birthday cakes!

Meet the numbers

Say each number out loud and count on your fingers:

NumberPicture friendSay it
1🕯️ one candle"wun"
2🦢 two swans"too"
3🦋 three butterflies"three"
4🪑 four chairs"for"
5✋ five fingers"five"
6🐌 six snails"siks"
7🪃 seven boomerangs"sev-en"

The picture trick

Here is a secret that makes numbers easy: every number looks like something real! A 2 looks like a swan gliding on a lake. A 6 looks like a snail's curly shell. When you give a number a picture, your brain remembers it much better.

Count everything!

  • Count your fingers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!
  • Count your toys as you put them away.
  • Count the steps as you climb the stairs.

Try this

Close your eyes and picture a candle (1), a swan (2), a butterfly (3) and a chair (4). Now say the numbers again. Easy, right? You just used the EduManual picture trick!

My daughter loved the picture trick — she remembered 1 to 10 after one afternoon. Thank you!
