📜 Read it aloud
Dad zipped up our tent as the sky turned orange.
It was our first night camping at East Coast Park.
The waves whispered against the sand, and distant ships blinked on the horizon.
We roasted marshmallows over a small fire.
Mine caught fire and turned as black as charcoal!
Dad said every camper burns their first marshmallow.
At midnight, a loud rustling woke me.
My heart pounded. Was it a wild animal?
It was only a stray cat sniffing our biscuit tin.
We fed it a piece of bread and named it Captain.
In the morning, Captain was gone, but paw prints led to the sea.
