🎯 Learning objectives

After completing this lesson, the child should be able to:

  • Understand division as sharing fairly
  • Solve simple division with pictures
  • Check division using multiplication
Division is sharing — everyone gets the same amount. Let us share apples the fair way!

Sharing apples

You have 6 apples and 2 friends. Share them fairly:

🍎🍎🍎 → friend one
🍎🍎🍎 → friend two

Each friend gets 3 apples. We write: 6 ÷ 2 = 3

Deal one at a time

  1. Give one apple to each group.
  2. Again, and again, until nothing is left.
  3. Count one group — that is the answer!

Division is backwards multiplication

If 6 ÷ 2 = 3, then 3 × 2 = 6. They are two sides of the same coin — use one to check the other!
