🎯 Family Quiz
Three questions each, any subject — points for trying.
How to play
Everyone prepares three questions (any subject). Take turns asking. Grown-ups miss on purpose sometimes — children love it.
📖 Story Time Circle
One sentence each, around the table, until the story ends.
How to play
Start a story with one sentence. Each person adds exactly one sentence. Keep going until it ends — no wrong sentences!
🔍 Science Discovery Walk
A short walk where every question counts as a discovery.
How to play
Walk for 15 minutes and collect questions: why is that leaf yellow? why is the drain wet? Answer together later — or look it up.
➕ Dinner Math Challenge
Turn dinner into a maths puzzle.
How to play
Count the pieces, split them fairly, estimate the total on the plate. One question per course.
🔤 Word Challenge
Find the longest word you know — then use it in a sentence.
How to play
Each person says the longest word they can spell, uses it in a sentence, and everyone votes for the best sentence.
🧠 Memory Challenge
Who can remember the most items from the shopping list?
How to play
Say a 6-item shopping list aloud once. Everyone writes what they remember. Compare lists — closest wins!
🎬 Retell the Day
Tell the story of today in order — first, then, finally.
How to play
Take turns telling today's story using "first", "then" and "finally". Older children can write it down.
🧺 Everyday activities
🏡 Describe Five Objects
Find five objects around the house and describe each with two words.
How to play
Pick five objects anywhere in the house. For each, say two describing words (size, colour, shape, feel). Let your child pick two for you as well!
📏 Longer Than Your Hand
Find three objects longer than your hand, and one shorter than your thumb.
How to play
Measure by comparing, not with rulers. Hunt around the house and compare. Talk about how you know.
☁️ Sky Watch
Observe the sky and describe what you see.
How to play
Look at the sky for a few minutes: clouds, colours, birds, the sun. Describe it, then predict what it will look like tomorrow.
🧠 Memory Table
Look at five objects for 20 seconds, cover them, and recall them all.
How to play
Place five small objects on a tray. Study for 20 seconds. Cover with a cloth. Name all five — then try them in order!
📝 Three Sentences About Today
Write three sentences about today's best moment.
How to play
Each family member writes (or says, for younger children) three sentences about the best moment of the day. Read them aloud at dinner.
🍕 Cooking Fractions
Halves, quarters and doubling — the kitchen teaches fractions.
How to play
Cut a pizza, roti or fruit into halves and quarters. Double a small recipe together and talk about what changes.
🛒 The Shopping Budget
A real or pretend budget at the shops.
How to play
Give a small budget (real or pretend) and let your child choose within it. Estimate the total before paying.
🌗 Shadow Watch
Watch the same shadow at three times of day.
How to play
Mark where a shadow falls in the morning, at noon and in the evening. Compare the lengths and directions. Ask why.
🌱 Plant Journal
Observe one plant for a week and record what changes.
How to play
Pick one plant (a pot, a garden bed, even a bean in a cup). Each day, draw it and write one change you notice.
🔎 The Word Hunt
Hunt the house for words — on boxes, books and labels.
How to play
Find five written words anywhere in the house (cereal boxes count!). Read each one and say what it means.
🟡 The Pattern Hunt
Find repeating patterns hiding in your home.
How to play
Look for patterns: tiles, curtains, plates, the rhythm of a song. Describe each pattern and make one of your own.
