💧 Helping with The Water Cycle

Everything you need to help — without doing it for them.

🎯 What the child needs to learn: The child needs to understand how water travels: evaporation, condensation, rain.

🧭 Simple explanation (for you)

The sun heats water, it turns into invisible vapour (evaporation), the vapour cools into droplets in clouds (condensation), and droplets fall as rain. Then it starts again.

✨ Example: Example: breathe on a cold window — your breath's water vapour condenses into droplets. That is a cloud in miniature!

❓ Questions to ask

  • “Where does rain come from?”
  • “What does the sun do to water?”
  • “What are clouds made of?”
  • “What happens after it rains?”

💡 Hints (not answers)

  • Watch steam and condensation in the kitchen
  • Draw the cycle with arrows
  • Boil water and watch the lid drip (adult only)
  • Look for puddles shrinking after rain

🏡 Practice activity

The puddle watch: mark a puddle after rain and check it every hour — where does it go?
