Understanding Your Child's Progress

What the bars, streaks and badges really mean — and what they do not.

Ages 3–12 · EduManual Team · Original EduManual content.

💚 Why it matters: EduManual shows per-skill mastery (vocabulary, phonics, spelling…) rather than one single score. A low bar means "still practising", never "bad at this".

🧭 What parents can do

Look at trends over weeks, not single sessions. Celebrate climbing bars and finished challenges. Use the focus areas to choose tomorrow's 10 minutes.

🪜 Step-by-step

  1. Open the progress dashboard together
  2. Find one skill that has climbed this month — celebrate it
  3. Find one skill to practise tomorrow
  4. Ask your child what they think of the numbers
✨ Example: A spelling bar at 55% after 5 tries is not a problem — it is a practice target. After 15 tries and 85%, it is a victory worth cheering.

🏡 Try this activity

Look at this week's report together and pick ONE thing to practise. Just one.

❓ Questions to ask

  • “Which skill are you proudest of?”
  • “Which one is getting easier?”
  • “What makes a skill easier for you?”

⚠️ Common mistakes

Reading a single score as a judgement of the child. Skills grow at different speeds, on purpose.

🤝 When to seek additional support: Progress data describes practice, not a child's worth. If you are worried about learning, talk with the teacher.
